Hello, everyone. Here's your chance to be part of the show! This letter will be read at the end of the Monday performance of The Troy Davis Project. If you come to the show, you can sign the letter yourself and we'll be reading the names of those who have signed the letter.

But you can still be part of the show, even if you're miles and miles away! Merely leave a comment with your first and last name, along with your current city. (ex: Stephen Adams, Denver CO) We'll add those names to the letter when we read the names at the end. It's that simple! Help become part of a growing movement here in the UCD Theatre/Film department and sign the letter! We'll be sending this letter to the Georgia State Board of Pardons and Paroles via email or fax that evening.

Thanks for everything,
Stephen

Dear Board of Pardons and Paroles,

A grave injustice has occurred, and you are now one of the few who can stop this miscarriage of justice in the state of Georgia. Troy Davis is scheduled to be executed on September 23, a date that will be remembered as the date the state of Georgia executed a potentially (and probably) innocent man.

It is extremely evident, not only to us, but to legal experts, that this case has several flaws surrounding it; there are too many misleading facts and misguided information, and there is no evidence in this case for this man’s life to be taken away.

Davis was convicted solely on the basis of witness testimony and no physical evidence links him to the crime. And the fact that seven witnesses have recanted their testimony must be addressed.

The police and the family of Officer Mark McPhail deserve justice, there is no doubt about that. But one man’s justice should not be achieved through another man’s injustice. The death penalty, which has been unexpectedly scheduled in this case, is serving not as a punishment, but as a brutal way of coping with a situation that is hard to resolve.

We are asking you to once again to consider the mountain of evidence that casts a substantial amount of doubt on the guilt of Troy Davis. Please follow your heart, listen to your soul, and prove that you understand the meaning of justice.
